Julie Shanley, Music Director

Julie Shanley is a professional musician working in Dublin. She sings regularly in Christ Church Cathedral and teaches, lectures and leads choirs. Julie graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a BA in Music in 2008.

In 2016 Julie completed an intensive year of training in the Kodály Institute of Music Pedagogy in Hungary. There she studied choral conducting, singing, piano, clarinet and chamber music. Her love of choral music began when she joined St Patrick’s Cathedral Choir School aged seven. From that point onwards she has been involved with diverse projects such as performing at Electric Picnic with Elbow, touring with the Irish Youth Chamber Choir and singing and dancing with the contemporary music ensemble, Tonnta.

Julie was appointed Music Director of The SuperTones in September 2016.

 

Nicole Cooney, Assistant

Nicole Cooney is a secondary school music teacher based in Dublin. Originally from Limerick, Nicole graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2018 with a first class honours degree in Music Education. She also teaches flute and Leaving Certificate at home in Limerick and around Dublin. While in college she completed one semester at the Kodály Institute of Music Pedagogy in Hungary, there she studied choral conducting, singing, piano, flute and chamber music. In her final year at TCD Nicole conducted the famous Trinity College Singers to great acclaim. She is currently studying for an MA in Choral Studies in DCU.
